Easy Multi Window Diablo 2

This is a basic guide to multi window D2 without the hassles of running VMware.
You will need theses to get started:
1. A cd key set for each install.
2. Sadboxie - http://www.sandboxie.com/
3. D2 cdkey changer - http://www.portaldeamon.com/d2ckey.zip

Diablo 2 setup:
Make a copy of your Diablo 2 folder and rename it to Diablo II-1. Run the cd key changer and select modify original key. Enter a different key then the one you used to originally install. You should now have 2 installs with 2 different cd key sets. If you want another install make a copy the original Diablo 2 install and rename it Diablo II-2 . Use the cd key changer, modify the original key, and enter another cd key set. Continue to do this for as many installs as you need. Remember you can only have 4 installs on bnet in game with out the use of proxies. With the use of proxies you can have as many as you want.

Sandboxie Setup;
First sandboxie is a nice utility that allows you to run processes in its own environment. It will not let that process access any thing out side of its sandbox. This allows you to run multiple Diablo 2 windows with no loader or launcher. Each instance will have its own bnet cache file, so there is no file or memory modification. To Bnet it will look like 1-4 instances of d2 running from different computers from the same network. 100% completely safe, and unless they change their policy to only 1 instance per ip, never bannable.

Install sandboxie any where you want, and google for a keygen for it. Enter the registration key to make it a registered copy.
1. Run the Sandboxie Control
2. You need to create a sanbox for each instance of D2. On the menu select Sandbox > Create New Sandbox
> name it Diablo1.
3. Right click on the Diablo1 sandbox you created, and select run sandboxed > run any program > and in the
dialog box type the path to the Diablo II-1 folder with a –w at the end of the path. It should look something
like this. C:\Programfiles\Diablo II-1\Diablo II.exe –w
4. When done click Ok. A Diablo 2 in window mode will launch.
5. Do this for every sandbox you created for each key making sure you use the next path for the next d2 folder.
6. So now to launch multiple D2 all you do it open sandbox control, Select a sandbox > right click >Run
sandboxed>run a program>in the dialog box select the previous path you entered, and away you go.

You can also use the windows shell in sandboxie, but that a whole different guide 

If you only have 2 cdkeys than you may omit registering sandboxie because it will let you run 1 sandbox, and with your original Diablo 2 short cut, you can run 2 instances.

Maybe we can get this stickied
ENJOY.. Nadda

This is a legit method and does NOT alter, inject, or modify any of the D2 code.

-=UPDATED the cdkey changer link, thanks portal.=-

Alternative way by fiann:

you need multiple CD KEYS

another way

1. Install Diablo 2 + Diablo 2 EXP(if ur gonna do EXP) into default folder

2 patch it to 1.12 >

3. Rename this folder Diablo II to d-1

part 2

1. Install Diablo 2 + Diablo 2 EXP(if ur gonna do EXP) into default folder

2 patch it to 1.12 >

http://us.blizzard.c...articleId=20758

3. Rename this folder Diablo II to d-2

part 3

1. Install Diablo 2 + Diablo 2 EXP(if ur gonna do EXP) into default folder

3. Rename this folder Diablo II to d-3

part 4

1. Install Diablo 2 + Diablo 2 EXP(if ur gonna do EXP) into default folder

2 patch it to 1.12 >

http://us.blizzard.c...articleId=20758

3. Rename this folder Diablo II to d-4 etc

Repeat this process as many times as u wish, just remember, still taking a ton of HD space per key

1. Run the Sandboxie Control
2. You need to create a sanbox for each instance of D2. On the menu select Sandbox > Create New Sandbox

> name it Diablo1. etc

3. Right click on the Diablo1 sandbox you created, and select run sandboxed > run any program > and in the dialog box type the path to the Diablo II-1 folder with a –w at the end of the path. It should look something like this.

C:\Programfiles\Diablo II-1\Diablo II.exe –w

4. When done click Ok. A Diablo 2 in window mode will launch.

I discovered this on my own with the suggestion of a friend, and wrote my own guide based on it to help people with 2 Key sets run 2 Diablo II windows.

True story:  Someone told me "Switch Users is better" and another told me "Virtual machine is better".

Well, Switch User is a hassle if you're, say, self-rushing or simultaneously controlling 2 characters, but not so much if you're just muling.  Virtual Machine would be the equivalent to SandboxIE, but requires more RAM in order to run and would probably take up more processor time (2 Operating Systems and 2 D2 windows).  SandboxIE is the fastest and easiest alternative to both, since with SandboxIE, you don't have to dedicate a small portion of your hard drive to the Virtual Machine.

Sadly, with the free version of SandboxIE, you can only have 1 Sandbox.  If you felt like registering it and putting aside ~2 GB for each D2 CDKey you have, you can probably run as many windows as you want, keeping your RAM in mind.
